Vumbura plains is situated in the northern Okavango Delta, on a wooded island in the same region as its sister camp Little Vumbura Camp. The camp is made up of two separate seven-roomed satellite camps. Each camp has its own elevated dining lounge and bar areas beautifully tucked away under a shady canopy of indigenous trees. The raised positions allow for spectacular views across the flood
The main areas of the camp are dotted with comfy sofa’s and idiosyncratic objets d’art. Each of the en-suite rooms are unique in contemporary design and have been created to maximize the use of natural light, wood and space. Relax in your generous bedroom, sunken lounge, sala, outdoor shower or private plunge pool. If you are travelling as a family, why not utilize the family suite, which has private decks linking the two separate rooms.
Activities are plentiful at Vumbura plains; game viewing can be done numerous ways, either an open vehicle, along the water in a mokoro or a by foot on a game walk. If you would prefer to spend the day fishing, try your hand at the seasonal catch-and-release.
Birding is fantastic and a definite must for all bird lovers. Or if you would prefer to have a bash at the cultural aspect, why not have a cultural tour to Gunotsogo (additional cost). For real indulgence, why not have a massage under the African sky?
